Febris: A Smart Watch and Locator for Kids

Children are the most precious wealth for all parents, and their safety and well-being are of utmost importance. However, unfortunate circumstances can sometimes occur during childhood, leaving a lasting impact on a child's psychology. One such circumstance is being lost, which can result in permanent psychological disorders. To address this concern, Levent Muslular designed Febris, a smart watch that keeps children close anywhere, anytime.

Febris stands out from other smart watches for kids due to its unique features and functionalities. It includes a GSM/GPRS module for voice or data communication and a GPS module for tracking functionality. This allows parents to locate their child at any time, providing peace of mind. Additionally, Febris accommodates presence detection and body temperature measurement sensors. Parents are informed through the Febris mobile app if the watch is taken off or if any abnormalities in the child's body temperature are detected.

The design of Febris prioritizes simplicity and ease of use for children. The watch comes in different sweet colors, allowing children to choose their favorite. To activate Febris, parents need to download the Febris mobile app on their iOS or Android device and register with their personal information. They then insert a SIM card into the device and configure the settings through the app. Parents can define a safe zone for their child, and if the child leaves this zone, an alert is sent to the parents through the app. Febris also allows children to call pre-defined contacts, ensuring they can easily reach their loved ones whenever needed.

The production of Febris involves the use of double injection molding process. The colored parts of the device are made of TPE, while the other parts are made of PP. The body dimensions of Febris are 65mm x 40mm x 16mm, and the package dimensions are 65mm x 50mm x 50mm.

Febris was developed as a result of extensive research on improving communication between kids and parents. The aim was to create a simple and elegant product that would resonate with both children and parents. The design team, which included Mustafa Haluk Çöloğlu, Süleyman Fatih Kara, Tugay Arslan, Baha Uluğ, and Ömer Faruk Akbal, overcame the challenges of designing a wearable device for kids by ensuring that the functions were easily controlled and that the watch was comfortable to wear.

Febris has received recognition for its outstanding design and innovation. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Baby, Kids, and Children's Products Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate exceptional expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. Febris stands out for its technical characteristics and its ability to provide a sense of wonder and amazement.
